Can we put off our plans until next week?

W: Hello, This is Jess. Is Joshua there?

M: Hi, Jess. How nice to hear your voice on the phone. What’s up?

W: I’m terribly sorry, but can we put off our plans until next week? Something came up unexpectedly at work.

M: Not a problem. Let me know when you settle things.

W: 정말 미안한데요, 우리 약속 다음 주로 미루면 안 될까요? 갑자기 회사에서 일이 생겨서요.

M: 문제 없어요. 정리되면 저한테 알려주세요

 

Put off는 ‘연기하다[미루다]’라는 뜻으로 postpone과 같은 뜻을 갖고 있으며 settle은 ‘정리를 하다’라는 뜻으로 사용할 수 있습니다.
